A Fire Risk Assessment is a mandatory requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and came into effect in October 2006. All non-domestic premises are covered in this Order and require a suitable and sufficient assessment to be carried out by a competent person. The responsibility for ensuring that this assessment is carried out now lies with the business owner or manager, and fire certificates are no longer valid if not carried out. This Order applies to outbuildings used for commercial purposes and includes non-permanent structures such as marquees.
