Veterinary Negligence
Have you purchased a horse which you later found to be unsound?
If you arranged for a vet to carry out an examination of the horse you
purchased and relied on a veterinary certificate as to the soundness of the
horse and you later found that the horse has some form of defect you may be
able to claim damages as a result of veterinary negligence. A veterinary
surgeon is expected to identify any defect which should have been apparent to
him in the course of the examination.
If you think that you may have a claim against the veterinary surgeon that
carried out your pre purchase examination we will consider all the evidence
available and advise you as to the merits and risks of issuing a claim, the
costs involved in going to Court and the various alternative ways of resolving
the dispute. It may be necessary to get an expert opinion from an independent
veterinary surgeon.
