Livery Agreements

Do you own/ operate a livery yard or provide facilities and services to a horseowner?

In order to protect your business and avoid misunderstandings you need comprehensive agreements setting out amongst other matters:

  • The livery period.
  • The livery fee, when it is to be paid and the provision of a deposit.
  • The services you provide.
  • The obligations of your clients.
  • A guarantee as to the condition of the horse on livery.
  • The procedure for terminating the agreement if the agreement is breached.

A livery agreement can be as comprehensive as you wish and may include details such as who is to rug up the horse at livery and the fee for doing so, who is to arrange the farrier and whether a horseowner is required to wear a hat conforming to BSI standards whilst on the yard.

If you own riding stables, stud farms or racing stables we can help you protect and nurture your business by discussing your objectives and the day to day practicalities of your business with you and designing terms of business and agreements between you and your clients that are specific to you and the way you manage your business.
